A Contemporary Majlis: Honouring Tradition Through Timeless Design

As we expand our presence in the Middle East, we are bringing our signature philosophy of “intelligent luxury” to clients across the Gulf, combining local heritage with globally minded interiors that are both timeless and practical.

We’re proud to unveil a special concept we developed for a majlis as part of a private home, a place for conversation, community, and conviviality deeply rooted in tradition, reimagined through the lens of contemporary luxury. We envisioned an environment where cultural richness was elevated through considered design. A sculptural staircase, a seemingly floating lighting installation, curated art walls coupled with carefully layered textures, speak to our hallmark approach: balancing elegance with authenticity.

Every detail, from the bespoke commissioned finishes to the flowing, conversational seating, was conceived to reflect the warmth and generosity of Middle Eastern hospitality, something embodied throughout the home.

This design forms part of an exciting new chapter for Taylor Howes. We look forward to building new relationships and designing beautiful homes that tell stories as rich and individual as the people who live in them.

Art has always been one of my greatest passions, a passion that began with my very first job at an art dealer. Being surrounded by incredible works from a young age shaped my appreciation for their emotional power and lasting impact. For me, collecting isn’t just about owning beautiful pieces; it’s about memory, emotion, and connection. Each piece in my collection tells a story: where I was when I found it, what I was feeling, the moment it captured in time. It’s these stories that breathe life into a home.

As a designer, I’ve always believed that art is the heart and soul of a space. It sets the tone, adds depth, and often becomes the element that ties everything together. I always encourage my clients, whether they’re just starting out or already seasoned collectors, to choose pieces that truly speak to them. Don’t worry about trends or value; start with what moves you.

Building a collection is a personal journey, and one of the greatest joys is helping others find pieces that resonate. Art shouldn’t feel intimidating, it should feel like coming home to something meaningful.
