May’s Industry Events: Inspired By Nature

May, as ever, was a brilliantly merry and busy month for the Taylor Howes studio team. Outside of project work, the team found inspiration and insights visiting some of the many shows, gallery launches and previews that the month had to offer. Here, Jane Landino, Creative Head of Studio, reviews her favourite events of May.

David Harber at Great Fosters, Egham

Last month Jane visited Great Fosters in Egham to view the David Harber sculpture exhibition. A perfect example of how art is intrinsically tied to nature. David’s work is inspired by organic shapes and forms whilst their metallic and polished surfaces reflect and amplify the bucolic surroundings of Great Fosters.

Isabelle Van Zeijl, Eye of the Collector, London

The Eye of the Collector exhibition took place at the beautiful and historic Two Temple Place. A varied exhibition spanning numerous artists each specialising in different genres and mediums, the work of Isabelle Van Zeijl was especially inspiring for the Taylor Howes team. “Resource” by Isabelle van Zeijl showcases the crossover between contemporary photography and the surrealist addition of living florals.

Chelsea Flower Show, London

To finish off the month, the senior team went to Chelsea Flower Show. Bigger and better than ever, every garden and outdoor supplier provided food for thought for the whole team. A few highlights included The Mind Garden by Andy Sturgeon whose organic curves really inspired us, alongside the grounding effect of the beautifully wild Rewilding Britain Garden by Lulu Urquhart and Adam Hunt. However, it was the verdancy and tenderness of Richard Miers’ Perennial Garden with Love that really blew us away; a garden which we really felt we could use elements of in our work moving forwards.
