Sustainability has never been so prominent in our minds and 2021 will be no different. Now more than ever we find our clients want to be part of the design journey, they want the pieces within their homes to be symbolic of their own belief system, to have integrity, to have a story, to be one-off art like pieces and most importantly to be sustainable.

However, this trend isn’t about recycling your papers and bottles, but about how you can sustainably feather your nest whilst keeping the look luxury; from glamorous upcycling to seeking out organic materials and paints to bring together a scheme that actively protects our green planet..

Designers such as Prada, Miu Miu, and Alexander McQueen have all taken to lux-cycling. Prada has pledged to convert all Prada virgin nylon into regenerated nylon by the end of 2021 and we see this kind of mentality flowing over into interior design. From reusing or repurposing fabrics to recovering and using antiques. 2021 will mark the permanent move away from the quick fix of instant fashion to a sense of longevity and considered consumerism.

• In possession of an item of furniture that’s a little worse for wear? Why not give them a lick of paint or perhaps give them a more luxe treatment and dip them in gold?
